Daydreaming

“Daydreaming is a sacred duty for anyone who wants to live life fully awake.”

—Chani Nicholas

I could meet you there,

inside a dream

before the street lights come on.

A couple days ago it seems

someone from the city must’ve switched out

the bulbs

–like what if there was a bulb repair shop,

We could just fix all the things we have

mend, instead of replace–

replaced the warm golden glow I remember

that used to shine through my windows every night

with this cool, blue toned

artificial

Moon light.

I could meet you there,

under the street lights

listening to all the ways you’ve been or wanted to be

as we drive from here into whoever we are becoming.
