Remember how to love water
There are gifts of living we’ve loved
or needed,
conflating the two,
and then built tools
or beliefs
so we could give away
or hold no
responsibility,
like water.
Use a tool for so long,
generation over generation,
and the weight of it
is lost,
like needing water to live.
Like loving the water we are
there is a way to remember. It’s a warm
kind of pain,
a slow kind.
It gives enough time to
really consider
or feel
a response.
A merciful pain.
Where are the tools to feel it?
Build them now.
