The Body Awake
Feeling into my limits
prickly, clinging, spiky,
not quiet harsh,
burning, ache,
right here, moving.
It is like seeing what I look like
from outside of me and
smelling each mood like
a newborn’s skin.
Hearing my voice
erupt as if from the earth,
wild.
After the shock, there is
a calm, like the way water
clear from a fresh spring might
taste.
Crisp, sharp, soothing, calm,
necessary.
I’ve known so many sides
of myself.
And there are infinitely more possibilities.
