What is needed 

is empathy. 

That hard-won, age-old, persistent,

easily misconstrued 

experience: empathy. 

Do not weep at or for me.

Do not attempt to stand in my place. 

Go further, imagining into feeling

what it is like to be the human I am

in my condition and circumstance. 

Hear me. 

Let us be moved 

by what moves each other,

and reorder the place where we stand.
