Day 50

How is a life pruned,

cut back from all that drains,

the parts that no longer serve. 

Asking 

to see the life

and life giving. 

First, examine each stem. 

Trace back far enough, in memory

to find even the slightest bud. 

Asking 

to cut the rest or

leave a shelter?

Either way, if all else has gone wrong

in any way or 

as it may these days,

Layer yourself over with blankets

in the arms that come, warm and ready to hold on 

The cold season is coming.
